State Attorney General Sues Buffalo Heating Contractor

By Mark Scott

Buffalo, NY – The State Attorney General's office is suing a Buffalo heating and cooling contractor for allegedly defrauding consumers out of thousands of dollars.

Word of the lawsuit came on the very day when overnight temperatures were in the single digits. Attorney General Andrew Cuomo says his office will intervene in these kinds of cases where fraudulent contractors are taking advantage of people who are trying to stay warm.

In this case, Assistant Attorney General Jim Morrissey says Daniel Myers of Hunt Street in Buffalo is accused of absconding with thousands of dollars in advance payments from customers.

Morrissey says at least seven customers have been victimized. State Supreme Court Justice Joseph Makowski has signed a temporary restraining order that prohibits Myers from taking any new jobs. As part of the suit, Morrissey says they will try to secure restitution for Myers' victims.

Daniel Myers is scheduled to appear before Justice Makowski on January 25th. Morrissey says other past customers of Myers who believe they, too, were victimized should contact his office.
