Buffalo, NY – The National Weather Service has lifted its snow and blowing snow advisory for northern Erie, Niagara, Orleans and Genesee Counties.
Bands of lake snow over northern Erie, Niagara and Orleans Counties drifted south Monday. Some areas south of Buffalo could see another three to five inches before the snow tapers off early Tuesday. Strong winds were still causing some blowing snow and poor visibility in parts of the area early Monday afternoon.
Snow fall totals range from 5.5 inches in Lockport as of midday Monday to 3.2 inches in Cheektowaga.
Christmas Day is forecast to be tranquil with partly sunny skies. Check the National Weather Service for the full forecast.
A strong cold front moved through the region Sunday afternoon. Temperatures dropped from a high of 52 degrees at 2pm to 32 degrees at 7pm. Wind driven heavy rains drenched a sell-out crowd at Ralph Wilson Stadium Sunday, where the Bills fell to the New York Giants 38 to 21.
Flood warnings were issued for areas along the Lake Erie shoreline and for Cayuga nad Cazenovia Creeks but no problems were reported.
