Winter Storm Warning Ends

By Mark Wozniak

Buffalo, NY – Yesterday's heavy snowfall resulted in several inches of accumulation, and closed several area schools. The list includes Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Lockport, and Jamestown schools.

The highest reported total was 18 inches in Lockport, followed by Eggertsville with 13.1 inches. Cheektowaga reported 12.4 inches at the National Weather Service airport facilities. 10.5 inches were recorded in Tonawanda and Colden, 10.2 inches in North Tonawanda and 12.5 inches in Lancaster and Cherry Hill. Kenmore was hit with 12.5 inches.

There were 9.5 inches of accumulation in Clarence, and 9 inches were measured in Delaware Park. And in the Southern Tier, Perrysburg in Cattaraugus County picked up a foot of new snow.

The National Weather Service has cancelled the Winter Storm Warning for all of Western New York. Snow is winding down across the region. Forecasters say the potent storm that dumped heavy snow is lifting out into the Canadian Maritimes.
