Buffalo, NY – Students at Campus West school in Buffalo received a special lesson about outer space. An astronaut and flight director appeared at the school Tuesday afternoon.

Astronaut Barbara Morgan shared a computer video of a recent shuttle mission. Morgan was first a teacher. She was selected as backup for astronaut Christa McAuliffe in 1986, as part of the "teacher in Space" program. But Morgan watched the Challenger exploded. And despite that tragedy, in 1998, she became an astronaut herself.

Morgan most recently flew in the Endeavour shuttle flight in August. Morgan was joined by Western New York native and flight director of the Endeavour Mission, Matt Abbott a flight director. He grew up in Williamsville.
