Tonawanda, NY – The Defense Department has informed a Tonawanda family of the death of their husband and son in Iraq.
Army Private First Class Dwane Covert Junior, 20, died Saturday from injuries suffered when he picked up a cap-like device and it exploded.
Covert was a graduate of Kenmore East High School.
His widow Jeanette, also 20, says Covert was dedicated to their 22 month old son Cameron.
Jeanette Covert is pregnant with their second child, due in December.
His father and brother both served as Marines.
