Buffalo, NY – All three of the region's health insurance companies are in the top 50 in the latest "US News & World Report" ranking of the nation's top health insurance plans. The magazine is available at newsstands this morning.
Independent Health is the best of the three, ranking 28th out of the 314 plans that were examined. Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Gillespie says Independent Health's focus on preventive care is one reason for the high ranking.
Univera Healthcare is close behind in the rankings at number 34. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York is ranked 48th.
