Buffalo, NY – WBFO News begins a new weekly feature -- a conversation with the editors of Buffalo Rising on some of the week's key issues in the news in Buffalo.

The moderator is WBFO News Director Mark Scott. He's joined by Newell Nussbaumer, who writes under the byline of Queenseyes on Buffalo Rising Online, and the managing editor of Buffalo Rising, Elena Cala Buscarino.

The outer harbor was in the news in the past week, and like everything that seems to happen in Buffalo, it's surrounded by controversy. The State Transportation Department unveiled a design for Route 5 that they say will improve access to the outer harbor area. But a coalition of groups which favors a slower speed boulevard are calling on the DOT to delay the project and explore an alternative design.

They also talk about marble from the demolition of St. Joseph's New Cathedral on Delaware Avenue 30 years ago that was used as fill to build up the outer harbor.
