Spitzer Delivers Endorsements, Defends Drivers License Proposal

By Mark Wozniak

Buffalo, NY – Governor Eliot Spitzer came to Buffalo and Niagara Falls Sunday, to announce his endorsement of James Keane for Erie County Executive, and Paul Dyster for Niagara Falls mayor. The governor also attended church services at the True Bethel Baptist Church on East Ferry Street.

The Keane endorsement came during a private Democratic party gathering in a Buffalo home, even though Keane has announced his opposition to Spitzer's controversial proposal to issue driver's licenses to illegal immigrants.

Meanwhile, the "Buffalo News" is reporting that the Spitzer administration has already enacted a change in licenses for non-citizens. The DMV no longer stamps licenses with a "temporary visitor" stamp, and the date of their visa expiration.
