Buffalo, NY – The University at Buffalo is moving its key fundraising functions downtown to free up space for its nursing program.
UB its moving its development office and its 50 employees from Wende Hall on the South Campus to the Jacobs Executive Development Center at Delaware Avenue and North Street. External Affairs Vice President Marsha Henderson says the move will help solidify the university's presence downtown. It's scheduled for the winter break.
Henderson says the university will stop offering the Jacob's center for private functions but will honor all contracts through November 2008.
The vacated space in the historic Wende Hall will be renovated into the new home of UB's School of Nursing. Health Sciences Vice President Dr. David Dunn says an expanded nursing school will help the community deal with a shortage of nurses. He says the school plans to double to number of degrees it awards each year.
