Severe Storm Knocks Out Power, Ushers in Cooler Temperatures

By Mark Wozniak

Buffalo, NY – Cooler autumn-like weather will spread across the area Wednesday in wake of a cold front, heralded by strong thunderstorms Tuesday night.

Those storms with winds gusts that topped 60 miles per hour knocked down some trees, branches, and wires. Utility crews were working Wednesday morning to restore power to the remaining 300 or so customers of about 6,000 that lost electricity during the storm.

The most affected areas were in the Tonawandas, and in Batavia.

Another cold front is expected late Friday. That will bring the likelihood for showers and thunderstorms, and a taste of autumn, complete with possible frost, will move in for the weekend.
