Buffalo Woman to Serve Six Months for Fatal Crash

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – A 26 year old Buffalo woman was sentenced to six months in prison for a fatal car crash that killed a Tonawanda man.

Carrie Sanders was charged with drunk driving and vehicular manslaughter for traveling the wrong way on the 190 last January.

43 year old Richard Moore was killed. His wife, Gayle Moore, reacted to the sentence outside the courtroom.

"I am happy that she is going to serve some jail time. In some ways in doesn't seem like enough. But I feel that if she is going to talk and teach other people not to do what she has done we can get some meaning out of this for me," said Moore.

Moore's mother, Carolyn Moore, talked about the lessons from this tragedy.

"If there is one thing that could come out of this, just one, it's for God sake that people know not to get into a car drunk and drive and drive." said Moore.

Moore noted that such a tragic crash can tear the heart out of a family. "We have to bring more awareness to drinking and driving we just have to," noted Moore. Sanders apologized to Moore's family during the sentencing.
