Missing Priest's Body Recovered

By Mark Wozniak

Buffalo, NY – The body of a missing Cattaraugus County priest was found Monday night. Officials at Saint Bonaventure University in Olean say Father Greg Brennan went boating on the Allegheny Reservoir over the weekend and was reported missing after he failed to return Sunday.

Father Greg's damaged boat was discovered Saturday evening in the Kinzua Dam's reservoir's east shore in Pennsylvania.

The 56 year old priest was an outdoors enthusiast, last seen Friday on his way to a cabin near the reservoir.

In a prepared statement, Buffalo Bishop Edward Kmiec said it was a day of great sadness and loss. Referring to Father Greg's home parish of Saint Pacificus, the Bishop noted that "Pacificus means 'peaceful' and that image certainly comes to mind when we think of Father Greg.
