Political Action Group Criticizes Cost of War

By Melissa Ortiz

Buffalo, NY – A political action group staged a protest in Buffalo Thursday against the war in Iraq.

Members of moveon.org released a new report to highlight the cost of the Iraq War to Western New York residents. The report, "War at Home," says the war has cost residents in the 27th Congressional District about $1.1 billion. Moveon.org member and Vietnam vet Frank Gage says all troops need to be brought home now.

"I'm a combat veteran, and I don't want any of these kids to go through what I went through in Vietnam," Gage said. "I don't think any of them should be subjected to that kind of crap. So it's real easy for me -- I just don't want them to go through it all. Vietnam was a big lie, and so is this."

Moveon.org says money being spent for the war could be put to better use for important services in the Buffalo community.
