Buffalo, NY – The Ford Stamping Plant in Woodlawn honored its workers Wednesday for their role in the manufacture of Ford's newest model, the Edge.
The local plant manufactures the body of the vehicle. Steven Golovon of Local 897 of the United Auto Workers Union says the popularity of the "Edge" is helping to preserve jobs at the Ford Stamping Plant.
"This line is critical to our future," Golovon said. "It helps keep the volume in the plant. It keeps us working, and we're very proud to be a part of it."
Western New York Ford Dealers report that more than 200 Edges were sold in June. It's the vehicle's best sales month to date. Buffalo is one of the top markets in the nation for sales of the Edge.
