Buffalo, NY – You might say Buffalo has "reeled" in a big one. The ESPN Bassmasters Elite Series opened in Buffalo late yesterday afternoon.
More than 100 of the top Bass Anglers in the world are in Buffalo for the Bassmaster Elite Series. They begin competing today in the waters of Lake Erie at the NFTA boat harobr on the City's waterfront through this Sunday.
Chuck Giglia is with the Buffalo Niagara Convention and Visitors Bureau. In the past Buffalo has played host to lower level bass tournaments, but this is the first time the high level of anglers are appearing in the Queen City.
Giglia says securing the event for Buffalo was a long time in the works. Giglia says no longer is Lake Erie Buffalo's best kept secret among these fishing competitors.
The CVB believes the Bassmaters Elite series will could generate about one-million dollars for the local economy. It will televised next week on ESPN.
