Buffalo, NY – Former Buffalo Mayor James Griffin is not giving up on politics. Griffin officially filed his petitions with the County Board of Elections for the Erie County Executive September primary race.
Griffin, well know for his feisty, outspoken behavior, was at it once again, when WBFO News asked him why he is running at the age of 78.
"I am 78 and I am doing it because I think I can win. What the hell do you think I am doing it for," said Griffin.
Griffin collected about 4,700 signatures for the September primary. He says he believes County residents are feed up and he can work toward economic development and new jobs.
Griffin, a democrat, ran twice unsuccessfully for the job in the past. But he was a four term city mayor. He also served a few years ago as South district council member.
The Erie County Democratic Party has already endorsed James Keane for the County Executive race. And democrat Paul Clark is also waging a run for the seat.
