Buffalo, NY – United States Congressman Thomas Reynolds said Tuesday that he is about out of patience with the Iraq war.
Support among other Republicans is also waning.
Interim reports show a troubled situation in Iraq, with escalating casualties and Iraqi control still an unreachable goal.
Those reports are taking a toll, both militarily and politically.
Pressure on President Bush is mounting even within Republican ranks. Congressman Reynolds was once a staunch supporter of Bush's war policies.
But Reynolds left little doubt Tuesday that his patience is wearing thin on Iraq.
Still, Reynolds stopped short of saying he would withdraw support for funding the war.
But he said there are red flags about America's continued direction in Iraq. He said new reports that military recruitment is once again down adds to those concerns.
Still, Reynolds says he'll wait a bit longer before making any decisions. A full report from General David Petraeus is expected in September.
Reynold's patience has outlasted some other top Republican leaders.
Senators Richard Lugar and Pete Domenici are among those demanding immediate redeployment. The President, however, continues to reject calls to change course.
