Buffalo, NY – Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani's presidential bid was endorsed Monday by the State Republican Party.
More than 50 county chairmen from across New York joined state GOP leader Joseph Modello in announcing their support of Giuliani at a New York City news conference. Mondello said Giuliani has show the world "the true meaning of leadership" through his actions in the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Giuliani said he was pleased with the endorsement. He said it means a lot to have the support of his home state. Giuliani also said the Republican Party needed to compete even in traditional liberal strongholds such as New York.
Giuliani said fighting terrorism and dealing with the economy would be the top two priorities for the incoming presidential administration.
Giuliani will be in Buffalo Tuesday night for a major fundraiser at Kleinhans Music Hall.
National polls have shown Giuliani leading all Republicans for the nomination.
