Dunkirk, NY – Three people died Thursday morning when their twin-engine plane crashed in Dunkirk.
FAA spokesman Jim Peters says the Beech Baron was en route from Oshawa, Canada, to Wilmington, Delaware, when the pilot reported trouble in the left engine and got permission to land at the Dunkirk Airport.
According to Peters, the plane overflew the runway and crashed shortly after 8:30 am in a field about a half-mile south.
The Canadian-registered aircraft was destroyed and all three people aboard were killed.
Their names were not immediately disclosed.
State police and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
