Buffalo, NY – Voters will go to the polls Tuesday to decide the fate of local school district budgets.
Despite a big increase in state school aid to local districts, many of the budgets going before voters include a hike in property taxes. Jane Burzynski of the Erie County Association of School Boards says the increases are justified in an era where school districts are being held more accountable.
Many local districts -- including Amherst, Orchard Park, Lancaster and West Seneca -- are asking voters to approve special propositions to fund capital improvements in their respective schools.
