Buffalo, NY – The Buffalo Sabres will play another team from New York in the NHL playoffs. The New York Rangers will open the series against the Sabres Wednesday night at HSBC Arena.
Coach Lindy Ruff expects quite a challenge from the Rangers.
"They have good overall balance," Ruff said. "They play well defensively. Their goaltender has been very good."
The Sabres beat the Rangers in all four meetings during the regular season, but the last meeting was back on December first. The Rangers have a much better record in the second half of the season.
The Sabres advanced to the second round with a 4-3 victory over the New York Islanders Friday night at HSBC Arena.
