Mayor Appoints Panel to Probe Webb Project Process

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – Although the city insists that proper permits were in place for the Webb Building on Pearl Street, Mayor Byron Brown has named a four-member panel to review the permits and inspections process for the project.

The city remains under tight scrutiny since a worker fell to his death from the building last week.

The panel has been charged with the task of determining if permit and inspections rules and regulations were followed since the project started last year by developer Rocco Termini.

Buffalo attorney Richard Griffin will chair the panel. Panel members include are North District lawmaker Joseph Golombek and president of D'Youville College, Sister Denise Roche.

The review panel is ask to report back to the Mayor in 30-days with its findings and recommendations for future improvements of the permits and inspections process. But the panel's work will only deal with that process. Brown stressed it is not a safety review.

However, the Mayor says the panel is welcome to speak with Termini or the construction contractor if they feel it is necessary.
