Buffalo, NY – Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown says if the state approves more than $10 million in funding the city would be able to hire more city cops and install surveillance cameras in high crime areas.
The Mayor outlined his initiative just one day after the control board approved Buffalo's plans to install cameras to fight crime.
Brown was in Albany earlier this week where he met with the governor and top legislative leaders. Brown is calling on the the state to provide $10.5 million in efficiency grants to pay for the cameras and to hire 100 police officers. Brown says the cameras would be set up in so-called hot spots for crime.
