Zoo Kicks off Ambitious Campaign

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – The elephant house is one of the oldest buildings at the Buffalo Zoo and now an effort is underway to renovate it.

The Zoo has kicked off an ambitious campaign to raise the needed funds for the projec called the "I Love Elephants" Campaign.

Zoo president and CEO Donna Fernandes says the Zoo needs to raise more than $1 million for the renovation project. But the effort will only run through May 31st.

The elephant house falls short of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums regulations. The house is the original structure built in 19-12.

Fernades says renovations would allow the Zoo to expand to continue housing its three elephants. If you would like more information on "I Love Elephants" campaign, go on line to the Zoo's Web site at www.buffalozoo.org.
