Buffalo, NY – Buffalo will be getting a break from the stormy weather of the past two weeks.
Much of the area has finished digging out from the winter storm that brought six to nine inches of snow to the metro region early Wednesday. Most area schools reopened Thursday.
Wind chills were in the bitter cold range Thursday morning, dropping to the 15 to 20 below range. But National Weather Service Meteorologist Mike Pukajlo says there will be some relief from our wintry weather.
"There are no major storms on the horizon. There will be occasional snow showers here and there," Pukajlo said. "We are looking for a bit of a warm-up by the middle part of next week. We could see temperatures topping out above freezing."
Area east of Buffalo were hit much harder by Wednesday's storm. There was a blizzard warning in Albany. Most activities at the State Capitol ground to a halt Wednesday. Governor Spitzer canceled a planned trip to Buffalo.
