Buffalo, NY – The year 2006 was quite newsworthy in the Buffalo area. There was the murder of a beloved Catholic nun, the massive search for an escaped fugitive who shot three state troopers and a state commission's recommendations to close two Buffalo area hospitals. But there was one story that tops them all -- an early season snowstorm that has been labeled the "October Surprise."
