Albany, NY – Governor George Pataki is having one last scuttle with state lawmakers before leaving office. Pataki and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver are trading insults and pointing fingers following a fruitless special session.
Pataki said it's Silver's fault that nothing was accomplished, including a law to continue confinement for dangerous sex offenders.
Silver called Pataki the worst governor he's ever seen.
"He will not make any kind of reforms," said Silver. "He wants what he wants and that's all."
But soon that won't be an issue for Silver or the rest of the legislature.
Pataki will be leaving office at the end of the year. But the pile of legislation that lawmakers left undone will still be there to deal with in January when the new session begins.
