Two Train Derailments in Buffalo Area

By Mark Wozniak

Buffalo, NY – Bailey Avenue is closed between William Street and Dingens Street in Buffalo. The reason is a train derailment on a railroad bridge over Bailey that took place during the 4:00 Monday morning.

An old light tower was knocked down into the street. That resulted in an accident that caused minor injuries to the driver who could not avoid the debris.

Bailey is expected to remain closed for several hours as crews work to clean up the derailment and search for a cause.

A similar incident of a train derailing on an overpass took place Sunday, dropping one rail car onto Union Road between Walden and Broadway in Cheektowaga and forcing the closing of Union for several hours. There were no injuries reported in Sunday's mishap.
