Heavy Rains Bring Flood Threat, High Winds Forecast

By Mark Wozniak

Buffalo, NY – The massive weather system that has brought wintry conditions to much of the Midwest has come our way.

Heavy rains fell throughout the region Friday morning. Some areas received two inches or more. The National Weather Service has posted a flood warning for Cazenovia Creek in West Seneca, Buffalo Creek in Gardenville and Cayuga Creek in Lancaster on Friday evening because of rising water levels.

Winds have picked up as well, with gusts of up to 50 to 60 miles per hour. A high wind warning is in effect for Friday evening and early Saturday morning.

A lakeshore flood warning is also posted Friday evening along Lake Erie in Erie and Chautauqua Counties.

The rain will change to snow showers early Saturday morning. The snow showers will continue for much of the weekend, though no significant accumulations are expected.
