City Fights Illegal House Flipping

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – The City of Buffalo continues its crack down on illegal house flipping. Over the past year, the Mayor's Anti-Flipping Task Force has successfully tracked down a number of fraudulent deals.

Affordable housing has always been a benefit for local residents. But out-of town buyers have been taking advantage of the cheap property.

House flippers have been purchasing dilapidated homes in some of the City's poorest neighborhoods and reselling it without any improvements.

Mayor Byron Brown says it has had a devestating effect on the city. The task force now monitors out-of-town flippers at the City's annual foreclosure auction underway this week.

Buyers at the auction must now sign affidavits so the city can track the purchase.
