Body Discovered in Newstead Likely that of Clarence Mother

By Mark Wozniak

Buffalo, NY – The Erie County Sheriff's Department is investigating the discovery of a body near a bike path in the town of Newstead.

Police say they believe it is Joan Diver, 45, a Clarence mother of four who disappeared on Friday. Undersheriff Richard Donovan says the death is suspicious, and is likely a homicide.

More information is expected after an autopsy is completed.

Sunday's discovery came 16 years to the day that the body of UB student Linda Yalem was found along an Amherst bike path, after she was raped and strangled.
