Buffalo, NY – A bid to delay implementation of a passport requirement at the US-Canadian from January 2008 to mid-2009 has been rejected.
Tuesday, it was announced that the delay was to be part of a homeland security spending bill. But last-minute wrangling by Republican leaders led to House Speaker Dennis Hastert removing the postponement from the bill.
There was strong support for the delay from businesses along the border.
