New Security Measures in Effect at Buffalo-Niagara International Airport

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff says air travel is safe because of measures being taken after Britain said it foiled a plot to blow up airplanes flying to the US. The safety measures include banning all liquids from carry-on luggage. Baby formula and medicines can be carried, if screened.

Britain says the 21 people arrested in an alleged plot to blow up planes include the main suspects behind the planning. Britain canceled all flights Thursday between London's Heathrow airport and points in Britain, Europe and Libya.

The new security measures banning liquids in carry-on luggage are now in effect at Buffalo Niagara International Airport.
