Preparing Now to End School Violence

Schools Superintendent James Williams
Schools Superintendent James Williams

By Eileen Buckley

Buffalo, NY – The leader of Buffalo Public schools is very worried about a recent wave of street violence that is affecting school age children.

Buffalo Schools superintendent Dr. James Williams says he is very concerned that summer street violence could spill over into the new school year.

Williams says it is his "biggest fear". But he says that concern is prompting him to be prepared for the upcoming school year.

During the last school session, violence took center stage at some city schools, forcing the district to implement measures, including police patrols and plans for an alternative school. Williams says School 44 is set to open at the start of the new school year.
