10,000 Maniacs to Celebrate 25th Anniversary with Benefit Concert

By Mark Scott

Jamestown, NY – Jamestown's own "10,000 Maniacs" is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The alternative rock band will be holding a benefit concert on September 8th, 25 years to the day that it performed publicly for the first time.

Steve Gustafson has been with the band for all of its 25 years. He says the group has released ten albums, selling in excess of seven million copies. Their breakthrough album "In My Tribe" went platinum. In April, 10,000 Maniacs released a live album recorded at the Seneca Niagara Casino.

The September 8th benefit concert for Jamestown area arts and education programs will take place at the Reg Lenna Civic Center. They'll be joined by singer-songwriter John Sebastian and guitarist Artie Taum.
