Buffalo, NY – Regional promoters hope to quantify the economic impact of local arts groups with a new study by professional economists.
The study was launched Thursday by representatives from the Buffalo-Niagara Regional Partnership, the Arts Council of Erie County and Americorps, who are partnering in the effort. But the $6,500 study will actually be conducted and funded by a private, national group called "Americans for the Arts." Celeste Lawson is executive director for the Arts Council. She says the report will give them solid data.
Surveys will distributed to the audiences of nearly 200 cultural groups. The information will be used for future marketing and funding requests.
