Buffalo, NY – He's already credited with saving one of Buffalo's professional sports franchises. Now, Thomas Golisano tells the Buffalo media he isn't ruling out doing the same for the city's other major league team.
The owner of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres says he's concerned about the future of the NFL's Buffalo Bills. The concern comes after Bills owner Ralph Wilson voiced doubts about the team's long-term viability in western New York after the league's new collective bargaining agreement was reached last month.
Wilson says under the agreement, small-market teams like Buffalo won't be able to compete against big-city franchises.
Golisano, the billionaire founder of a Rochester-based payroll processing company, stepped in three years ago to buy the struggling Sabres franchise.
Wednesday night, he told reporters that the Bills are a big asset for the Buffalo area. If the topic of ownership ever comes up, Golisano said he'd be interested in talking about it.
