Buffalo, NY – This week is National Library Week. The annual observance comes as the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library copes with drastically reduced funding.
Library branches have closed. There is reduced funding for the system to buy new books. And it's unlikely there will be any significant increase in county funding next year.
But ever the optimist, Library Director Michael Mahaney is still celebrating. It's Library Week after all.
