Buffalo, NY – Nearly three quarters of the goal for this year's Catholic Charities appeal has been tallied.
The eight-day Appeal 2006 began Sunday. Diocesan officials announced a first-day total of $7.84 million.
Bishop Edward Kmiec expressed his thanks to those who made donations to the appeal so far, but noted there is still some work to do.
"We hope that during the course of this week that we'll accomplish obtaining the entire goal," Kmiec said. "We have great gratitude to our people who have already contributed."
This year's goal is $10.9 million.
