Buffalo, NY – WI-FI Internet technology has arrived at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
The Verizon Foundation is providing Roswell Park with a grant for a program called "Roswell-Link." It will allow the cancer center to provide wireless Internet access in the lobby of its main building and ground floor patient waiting areas.
Vice President of Information Technology Joanne Ruh says the program is designed to enhance the patient care experience.
"While you're in the chair, in an outpatient setting especially, people like to bring their work with them," Ruh said.
Ruh says they plan to expand "Roswell-Link" to additional areas of the Roswell Park campus later this year.
Ruh says patients and visitors can gain access to the network simply by launching their browser. She says some of the money from the grant is earmarked for the purchase of laptops which will be made available for patient use.
