Buffalo, NY – Women and Children's Hospital expands its adult internal medicine service to 24-hour in-house coverage starting Wednesday. That means physicians will be on hand around the clock to provide immediate care to pregnant women experiencing medical complications.
Dr. Colin McMahon, the hospital's medical director of Internal Medicine, is overseeing the expanded service.
"Women and Children's Hospital has always had physicians on call, but they didn't have them in the hospital," McMahon said. "In order to provide a higher level of care in the emergency room and all the floors, we decided to have board certified attending physicians in the hospital 24 hours a day."
McMahon said the expanded service rounds out the full range of OB/GYN care offered at Women and Children's Hospital.
