Cox Is Considering a Return to the US Senate Race

By Associated Press

Albany, NY – Edward Cox is considering a return to the US Senate race in New York.

The Manhattan lawyer is a son-in-law of the late President Richard Nixon. Two months ago, Cox dropped out of the running for the Republican nomination to challenge Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton's re-election bid next year.

But state Republican Chairman Stephen Minarik says Cox is reconsidering that decision and could re-enter the race now that Jeanine Pirro has dropped out.

Pirro announced earlier this week that she's switching races and running for state attorney general. That move came after several top-ranking GOP leaders -- including Minarik -- urged the Westchester County district attorney to run instead for the AG's job.

Minarik says he doesn't expect any decision from Cox until January.
