Flood Watch Posted

By Mark Wozniak

Buffalo, NY – Heavy rains and high winds are expected to affect the region Tuesday. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch through the evening.

The most likely areas for possible flooding are where heavy snows accumulated last week. High winds are also expected as a cold front moves through the region, prompting a wind advisory for this morning in the Southtowns and Southern Tier.

A record high for the date of 66 degrees was recorded overnight.

The high winds could result in scattered power failures, but weather is not to blame for an outage Monday at about 5:15 PM that blacked out about 85 hundred customers in Kenmore, Tonawanda, Amherst, and Buffalo's University District.

Tom Corbt of National Grid says a broken underground cable is to blame, but it's not known how it happened.
