Buffalo, NY – The chairman of the Erie County Fiscal Stability Authority met with Republican members of the County Legislature Monday night. Ned Regan met behind closed doors with Michael Ranzenhofer, Elise Cusak and Denise Marshall. He was also joined by control board member David Campbell.
After the session, Regan told reporters lawmakers need to create initiatives and reforms to re-engineer county government. Regan would like to see a four year fiscal plan that does not seek to raise the sales tax.
On Friday County Executive Giambra released his proposed 2006 budget that calls for a 17 percent increase in property taxes and a half-cent hike in the sales tax. Ten votes in the County Legislature are needed in order to hike the sales tax rate.
