Buffalo, NY – The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority has signed a memorandum of intent with the Buffalo Lakefront Development Team that presents a framework for development of Buffalo's outer harbor.
Carl Montante, Jr. is vice president of Uniland Development, one of the companies that make up Buffalo Lakefront Development. Montante said the agreement signed Thursday lists three goals.
"The first one is generating revenue for local government," Montante said. "Number two is creating uses that are open to the public. And number three is creating a waterfront destination for the Buffalo community."
Montante said the Buffalo Lakefront Development Team has been working with state and federal officials to secure millions of dollars in funding for roadway improvements at the outer harbor site.
He said work on a greenway trail around the perimeter of the Outer Harbor site should start early next year.
