Buffalo, NY – Primary Challenge believes it has made some progress in promoting change in local government.
The organization was formed last year in the midst of the County budget crisis. Several Primary Challenge candidates ran against incumbent lawmakers in Erie County.
At least one of the Primary Challenge candidates has a lead over incumbent County Legislator Tim Wroblewski. So far, Cynthia Locklear is winning.
But a number of absentee paper ballots must still be counted. Jim Ostrowski is with Primary Challenge. He said they are planning to file a complaint with the State Election board to voice disapproval over the use of paper ballots by the County Board of Elections.
"The Board of Elections did not count the votes Tuesday. They are suppose to do that under the election law," said Ostrowski. "A lot of these primary challenges candidate races are still undecided where paper ballots have not yet been counted."
Primary challenge said a couple of other candidates appear to have a shot at pulling out a win once all the votes are counted.
But the organization was unsuccessful in the race to unseat incumbent majority leader Lynn Marinelli. Joseph Kennedy lost.
