Buffalo, NY – Assembly Democrats in Albany say they want former Erie County Budget Director Sheila Kee to be named to the county's new control board.
State Senator Dale Volker Thursday talked to reporters about potential names for the Senate's selection. He says he would like to see Stanley Keysa, former Lancaster Supervisor, to sit on the board. But Volker confirmed that he submitted Robert Gioia's name to the Governor even though that isn't his personal choice.
"I think Bob Gioia might be considered by the governor," Volker said. "We haven't decided on the Senate's pick yet. We'll probably do that within the next few days."
Volker says other names include Janet Penksa, who once served as secretary of finance for the Assembly Democrats. She now is with UB.
Former State Comptroller Ned Regan, who once served as Erie County Executive, is also being considered.
Volker says he expects Governor Pataki could finalize the control board bill for Erie County by this weekend.
