Buffalo, NY – New life has been pumped into a community building at Martin Luther King Junior Park near Humboldt Parkway in Buffalo.
For years, National Inner Cities Youth Opportunities has been operating out the Park's casino building that was in desperate need of repairs. But thanks to the Ciminelli Corporation and some local contractors, the building was repaired and renamed The Parents Center.
Ciminelli has been leading the $1 billion Buffalo Joint Schools Construction Project. Thirteen contractors from the schools project donated labor and materials to create the new center. Lou Ciminelli say it is just one of many community projects his company is working on to help re-build Buffalo neighborhoods.
"This is the first of many, many projects like this that you'll see springing up around the city," Ciminelli said. "It is a fulfillment of a promise that we made when we were selected to perform this transformation for the Buffalo school system."
The Parent Center offers parents and students educational tools and help with homework. It also provides a number of activities from judo and tennis to drill and marching teams.
