Buffalo, NY – Thursday night's heat and humidity didn't deter over 10,000 runners and walkers at the 25th annual JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge.
Two people were taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion, and several others were treated at the scene for dehydration symptoms.
Dennis Dombek, regional executive for JP Morgan Chase, says the Corporate Challenge is now one of Buffalo's signature events.
"Obviously, it's certainly a marketing event. But it's also our commitment to the city," Dombek said. "We, as a business bank, have been successful in helping companies grow. And we've been able to bring this event here for 25 of the 30 years we've been in Buffalo."
David O'Keefe, 46, of Orchard Park, running for the Buffalo Medical Group, finished first with a time of 17 minutes and 51 seconds. The top women's finisher was Allison Carr, 26, of West Seneca, running for Baker Victory, crossing the finish line after 20 minutes and 30 seconds.
