Buffalo, NY – The Middle School Programs of Catholic Central School in Buffalo have received a $166,000 grant from the John R. Oishei Foundation for a summer learning program.
Gifted students from Catholic Central will have the opportunity to continue their studies at a two-week summer camp at Christ the King Seminary. School Administrator Fr. James Joyce said students will participate in a variety of activities.
"There will be pretty heavy academics in the morning, and lots of fun in the afternoon," Fr. Joyce said. "They'll also be learning study skills. At the end of the two weeks, they'll be asked to make a presentation. Some will even recite Shakespeare and poetry. Hopefully, their families will come out to see them do these presentations. They're quite challenging."
Fr. Joyce said it's hoped the experiences will provide students with the tools to grow and succeed.
